Unfolding of Faces
Thermal gravure, aquatint
2025

These prints are part of the “Unfolding” series. In ‘Unfolding of Faces’, I explore identity, memory and emotional dynamics by transforming a portrait through a series of processes – from ceramic sculpture to photography and finally to a graphic print created using experimental techniques. Through fragments, gestures, textures and fleeting presences, the work gradually unfolds to offer a reflection on perception, the invisible and the complexities of mental health. It reveals layers of identity and inner states, emphasising the fragility and resilience of the human experience. Balancing the personal and the universal, the intimate portrait gradually becomes a face that could belong to anyone, connecting personal experience with collective reflection on emotional and mental life. The combination of materials and media creates a multi-layered visual structure that evokes historical portraits, yet also reflects the fluidity of identity and emotional states and the constant nature of change. These prints were created using an experimental combination of thermal gravure and aquatint techniques.
