Sweet – Sour (House on the Elbe River) is a multimedia installation and performance that explores the themes of human experience, memory and belonging.
Drawing inspiration from my own experience of living on a refugee ship in Hamburg, during the war in Yugoslavia, the work was conceived as a fictional
celebration of the “birthday” of the ship Bibby Challenge, marking its first departure after 48 years. The piece revolves around a ship-shaped cake that is
shared with the audience. In the meantime, there is a video projection of the sea in the background, along with graphics of the ship, balloons bearing the
number 49 and postcards for the audience to take.
