DESTROPIA – BETWEEN CREATION AND DESTRUCTION

Wer gibt hier den Ton an?
Interactive sound installation;
Material: Wild clay, water, glass aquarium, hydrophones, sound installation, 23 min, loop

This interactive sound installation explores the production of sound
through clay. The title “Wer gibt hier den Ton an?” plays on the
German word Ton, which means both ‘clay’ and ‘sound’, reflecting
the very essence of the work. The piece addresses themes of
power, creation, destruction and production. When clay comes
into contact with water, it produces cracking, sliding and rustling
sounds. By throwing pieces of dry clay into the aquarium, the
audience shapes the sound and form of the installation, thus
blurring the boundaries between artist and observer.
The resulting landscape remains in the aquarium and is
accompanied by a sound installation conveying the sounds and
traces of transformation, creating a sonic microcosm of nature.
