Forms

2023
In the work Forms I explore how societal expectations shape and constrain
women, particularly through the experience of motherhood. By creating
‘perfect’ spheres and then deforming them, I visually represent the process of
breaking down imposed norms and freeing oneself from the expectations
associated with the ‘ideal’ female role.
The video component documents this process, enabling the audience to
witness both the final object and the transformation itself — the tension
between idealisation and reality, and between personal experience and social
pressures. Through this, I aim to create a space for introspective reflection on
gender roles, identity and resistance to patriarchal structures.
Through materiality and the processes of creation and deformation, my work
merges the personal with the universal and the physical with the conceptual,
inviting the audience to reflect on, empathise with, and engage in dialogue
about how memories and social frameworks shape our presence.
