Site-specific installation
‘Tiramol’ 2024
The site-specific installation Tiramol explores the interdependence
of space, material and human narratives through a unique patina of
ferrous wild clay from the Minette region. It combines metal and
ceramics, reflecting the local history of Dudelange’s metal and brick
industries as well as Italian and Belgian migrant workers. The
site-specific installation is built on a metal structure found at Vewa, a
former workers’ dressing room. The Tiramol symbolizes everyday life
and the invisible connections between people. Like a line stretched
between houses, it represents a fragile yet enduring thread linking
the private and the public, the present and the absent.
Beyond the final piece, the project emphasizes sustainability through
the use of local and recycled materials. Tiramol reflects community
and resilience, such as Mediterranean cultural traditions of shared
activities and neighbourly connections. It shows how workers foster
social interactions and community strength, reinterpreting traditions
to create new identities.
